# About SteelInfo

SteelInfo is a free reference for Australian structural steel sections. It covers dimensions, section properties, AS 4100 design capacities, drawing sheets and DXF downloads, built for engineers, drafters, fabricators, builders and students.

It was inspired by the long-running *steelweb.info*, which gave the Australian industry free section data and CAD files for many years. SteelInfo keeps that spirit and adds full property sets, design capacities, comparison and search tools, and a fast, mobile-friendly design. It is independent and not affiliated with steelweb.info, any steel manufacturer or Standards Australia.

## How the data is produced and checked

Section sizes and nominal dimensions come from current manufacturer literature. Every property is then calculated from the geometry and checked against the manufacturers' published values. Design capacities follow AS 4100:2020 and reproduce published worked examples. The [data sources & verification](https://steelinfo.au/sources/) page lists the source and check for every section type; the [notation & method](https://steelinfo.au/notation/) page explains every calculation.

## Corrections policy

- Every section page has a *Report it* link, or email [info@steelinfo.au](mailto:info@steelinfo.au).
- Reports are checked against the manufacturer's current literature or the relevant Standard.
- Confirmed errors are fixed and listed on the [what's new](https://steelinfo.au/changelog/) page with the date of the correction.
